Tibetan Losar Eve Celebration
Sunday, February 23, 2020 — 4pm to 5pm –
Losar is a celebration of the Tibetan New Year during which we release all the negativities of the previous year and welcome the positive possibilities of the New Year. As the Tibetan lunar calendar begins on February 24th, we will be gathering to usher in the new year on February 23th, Losar Eve, immediately following Lama Monlam’s Red Garuda Mandala teaching and workshop.
Please join us in celebrating Losar Eve and take part in observing the Gu Tor ritual purification performed by Lama Monlam, Gyalshen’s resident monk.
We are also very fortunate that our local Tibetan sangha and friends will prepare authentic cuisine, including Guthuk, the traditional noodle soup eaten by Tibetans on Losar Eve. As many of you may recall, each portion of Guthuk contains a phrase of sooth for the coming year. We are looking forward to sharing these delightful traditions.with you!
