Silent Retreat and Zhang Zhung Meri Empowerment སྨྱུང་གནས་དང་མེ་རིའི་བཀའ་དབང་།

Zhang Zhugn MeriJuly 15th-19th, 10am 4:30pm, 2015 – Gyalshen Institute will host a silent  retreat and the Empowerment of the Zhang Zhung Meri bestowed by the supreme Yangton Lama Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche.  This empowerment, from both tantra and dzogchen, is uncommon among the inner, secret tantras.  It is a cycle of teaching from the Yungdrung  Bön of Ancient Zhang Zhung and has powerful blessings.  The lamas of this unbroken lineage continue to this very day one after the other, like a mala of luminous pearls. On Sunday, July 19th, following the empowerment, there will be a Tsok.  Please bring a “ready to serve” vegetarian food item for the Tsok on Sunday along with your khatas.

About the Lineage

In general, the principal yidam of the Yangton lamas is Zhang Zhung Meri.  Therefore, he  will give the Meri empowerment.  There are many esteemed Yangton lamas within the  lama lineage of the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu.  The lineage begins with Kuntu Zangpo and the  nine lamas of the mind-to-mind transmission along with the nine rikdzin of the Ka Gyu  transmission, one after the other.  Among these special lineage holders are the Yangton  masters 1) Yangton Chenpo  2) Dampa Bumje 3) Tashi Gyaltsen and 4) Gyaltsen Rinchen,  along with those present-day lineage holders from whom Yangton Lama Tashi Gyaltsen  Rinpoche received the Zhang Zhung Meri empowerment on four  separate occasions 1)  Yongdzin Sanggye Tenzin 2) Chedruk Khenpo Tsondru Gyaltsen 3) the supreme 33rd  H.H.
