Menri Drubchen and Medicine Buddha Retreat: April 11th-26th, 2024

Teaching days are April 11th, 13th, and 20th. Times: 8 am-9 am (PT) On Zoom
Chaphur Rinpoche will be at Menri Monastery participating in the Menri Drubchen ritual in early April. The Menri Drubchen is based on the ancient Bön practices and rituals of the Medicine Buddha at Menri Monastery. Traditionally, it is held only once in the lifetime of each H.H. Menri Trizin. Chaphur Rinpoche will be attending as a representative of Gyalshen Institute, the Chaphur Foundation, and our international sangha. While at Menri, Chaphur Rinpoche will join his nephew, Chaphur Tulku (Geshe Tsewang Rigzin), to instruct us via Zoom. Together, during the Introduction, they will explain the purpose of the Menri Drubchen and lead us in reciting the Medicine Buddha mantras. Throughout the entire retreat (April 11th – 26th), Chaphur Rinpoche plans to pray to the Medicine Buddha and the protective deities asking for healing for your families, friends, and those in need of blessings worldwide. Rinpoche will be praying that all will have a healthy, happy, and long life.
The Introduction: April 11th (Thursday), 8 am – 9 am PT, will include the purpose of Drupchen as well as how to practice the Drupchen ritual.
The Teachings: April 13th and 20th (Saturdays), 8 am – 9 am PT, will focus on the Medicine Buddha. They will include explanations of the actual teachings themselves, as well as a step-by-step outline of how to practice them.
It is customary for all those who attend Bön rituals at Menri Monastery, both individuals and organizations, to offer small gifts to each of the monks, nuns, and children. As an expression of gratitude, your registration fees will be shared with each of the monks, nuns, and children who are present at Menri Monastery during the retreat. In return, prayers for you and all beings whose names you have listed will be offered by the monks and nuns to express their gratitude and deep connection with each of you.
