COME HAVE FUN WITH US AT OUR GU THUK DINNER!
Friday, February 28, 2014
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
1608 Bonita Road
San Pablo, CA
Losar is the celebration of the Tibetan New Year, when we send away all the negativity of the previous year and welcome the positive possibilities of what to come in the new, this time the Year of the Horse.
Although the lunar calendar begins on March 2nd, the Gyalshen Institute sangha and members of the Tibetan community will be gathering to start the process of welcoming the new year on February 28, 2014. Together we will observe the Gu Tor ritual of purification.
Tibetans observe Gu Tor in order to drive out the evil spirits of the previous year. A typical Gu Tor activity involves a effigy (Lud), representing a fierce god. On the evening of Gu Tor, we will eat Gu Thuk, a soup made with special dumplings. Music and singing usually take place after the feast. This is a time for fun and enjoyment.
Come hungry! Gyalshen Institute will offer a Gu Thuk dinner. Join us for this important occasion. PLEASE RSVP to this email with the number of people who will attend the Gu Tor party with you!
We have made this change to schedule to permit the attendance of many of those who were otherwise unable to be present for the original Losar evening celebration. We hope you can make it. Thank you for your support of Gyalshen Institute.
Admission free! Any donation you may wish to make in support of this event can be offered at the door.
