Gaining Familiarity with Your Mind
and Its Essence

With Kurt Keutzer
Saturday June 1, 2019. 10-4PM

Bon Dzogchen texts such as The Twenty-One Nails and the Golden Instruction give beautiful instructions that point out the mind and its essential nature. However, these texts presume that the student has already become familiar with their own mind through meditation. This one-day retreat will guide students through a series of meditations that systematically examine the essence of the mind and the retreat will give students a foundation for continuing these meditations on their own. These meditations are drawn from The Greater Essential Instruction (lung non che), a text favored by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen for this purpose. A Translation will be provided.

The retreat will be led by Kurt Keutzer.  Kurt first encountered Tibetan Buddhism as a teenager and went on to engage with all five schools of that tradition both academically and as a practitioner. Kurt has studied personally with Menri Loppon Thinley Nyima, Lama Tashi Gyaltsen, Chaphur Rinpoche, Geshe Namgyal Dangsong, and Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. The fruit of these studies has been a number of translations of the Bon tradition.

The retreat is offered  as “donation only” and all proceeds will go to Gyalshen.
