Red Garuda Teaching and Black Garuda Transmission
In Person at Gyalshen Institute and Online
February 9th, 9 am-12 pm and 6 pm-7 pm (PT)
February 8th, 9 am-12 pm (PT)
Chaphur Rinpoche will lead a practice based on the teaching of the Red Garuda. The Red Garuda practice supports the student in rising above all obstacles and obscurations. Rinpoche will guide and empower students to use this Red Garuda meditation and mantra as potent spiritual medicine to overcome illnesses and to help restore a healing balance for all beings.
In the Bön tradition, the Garuda holds a special position of importance and reverence as an enlightened yidam, a wisdom being who emanates in forms of each of the five elements. The Red Garuda is associated with the fire element and the wrathful wisdom that overcomes all obstacles and brings healing, protection, and positive transformation to all beings.
Our sangha members requested the Red Garuda teaching and practice and the transmission of the Black Garuda practice. Rinpoche is responding to both requests and will explain the significance of both practices, including short, summarized teachings, as time permits, and the transmission of the Black Garuda practice.
In 2024, the Tibetan Losar (Tibetan New Year) falls on the 10th of February and is marked with preparation and the performance of the Gutor Ritual. “Gutor” literally means “offering of the 29th” and is held on the 29th day of the 12th month of the Tibetan calendar. We will be performing the Gutor Ritual on Losar Eve, February 9th, 6 pm-7pm PT at Gyalshen Institute and on Zoom.
Please join us on February 8th and 9th for the Red Garuda teaching and practice as well as the Black Garuda transmission. You are also warmly invited to join us during the evening of February 9th, 6-7 pm PT as we prepare for Tibetan Losar, the joyous Tibetan New Year, and take part in observing the Gu Tor ritual purification performed by Rinpoche.
All levels of practitioners are warmly welcome.
