April 10–11, 2027: Teaching on the Medicine Buddha & the Long life Empowerment

The Medicine Buddha is a compassionate manifestation of Tönpa Shenrab, the great Enlightened One of Bön . This teaching benefits all who are ill; it liberates them from suffering through the  Medicine Buddha. Through ceremony, meditation, and visualization, we are freed from obstacles in life and protected. By applying a method of healing and receiving the blessing of Tönpa Shenrab, the power and qualities of our energy are restored.

It was at the request of the kings of the island of Dawa Ruting that Tonpa Shenrab first gave the teachings of the Medicine Buddha. They were then transmitted through Chabu Trishe, one of Tonpa Shenrab’s eight sons and the source of the healing tradition of theTibetan Medicine lineage according to Bön. Gradually it was passed through masters in a continuous lineage down to the founder of the original Menri Monastery, Nyammed Sherab Gyaltsen, and to all the subsequent holders of that lineage. It  has been preserved unbroken to the present day.

The Long Life Buddha: the great master of Long Life, Tsewang Rigzin, is considered the main long life deity of Yungdrung Bon.  He taught that clearing the soul of negative influences helps to increase the life span, heal the soul, and encourages a happy life.

In a deep meditative state, Tsewang Rigzin received the special teaching about soul healing.  It was transmitted to him by the dakini, Yum Chen Thuk Je Kundrol. The teaching itself was identified as Tse Du Jha Ri Ma, which is composed of the long life empowerment rituals, soul retrieval, and life force retrieval. The related Long Life rituals help to facilitate healing and to bring harmony.

April 15–18, 2027: Teaching on Dzogchen Yetri Thasel

According to the traditional teachings of Yungdrung Bön, the Great Perfection (Dzogchen) is presented through four principal cycles of teachings. Yetri Thasel is one of these four major Dzogchen cycles.

According to the traditional lineage, the teachings of Yetri Thasel were first taught by Buddha Tönpa Shenrab Miwö to six emanation deities, including Khyappa Nangden. They were later transmitted and spread in India by nine Indian masters, including Dewa Nyingpo. Through the lineage of the three masters of Tazig and the five masters of Brusha, among others, the transmission remained unbroken and was subsequently brought to Zhang Zhung and  to Tibet, where it flourished widely.

The great master Drenpa Namkha played a particularly important role in preserving and spreading these teachings.

The Yetri Thasel cycle is traditionally divided into three sections: Mother, Son, and Branches. The five great chapters of Yetri Thasel constitute the Mother section, The commentaries elucidating their meaning, composed by the great master Drenpa Namkha, including the Chönchung Nyernga (Twenty-Five Smaller Mirrors), are known as the Son section.  The Thegrel Melong Gukor (Nine-Cycle Mirror of the Vehicle System) and related texts are known as the Branches.

On this occasion, H.E. Menri Ponlob Rinpoche will bestow the transmission of the complete Yetri Thasel cycle and will give teachings on its profound meaning of view, meditation, activity and enlightenment.
