3 Zoom Teachings in August:  A Tri Dzochen, Blue Zambala, and Medicine Buddha

A TRI DZOCHEN TEACHING by Zoom

Saturday, August 10th 8-9:30am  Pacific Time

Following our 2 day retreat on A Tri Dzochen with His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche,

Chaphur Rinpoche will lead us in the A Tri. The Atri, one of the most important spiritual traditions of Yungdrung Bon,  guides the practitioner through fifteen step-by-step sessions to stabilize the realization of the awakened awareness of primordial wisdom.   Based on teachings by Meu Ritro Chenpo in the eleventh century, and organized into a succinct practice manual by Drugyalwa Yungdrung in the thirteenth century, the Atri tradition has become one of the three principle traditions of Yungdrung Bon Dzogchen.

The Atri system concisely presents an approach to Dzogchen practice that begins with the most basic practices of disciplining the mind, continues with the direct introduction to the natural state, and then explains practices for sustaining the natural state itself.    Through sustaining the natural state, one gains confidence that the three enlightened bodies are nothing other than the essence, nature and clarity of one’s own mind. All this is concisely and systematically explained in Atri.

Wealth and Success/Blue Zambala on Zoom

Saturday, August 17th

8-9:30 am  Pacific Time

Chaphur Rinpoche will offer a teachingon the God of Wealth, Arya Zambala.  He will be petitioned along with his 8 brothers (Ched Gyed).  The purpose of this is to summon many kinds of fortune. Traditionally this included the fortunes of storehouse grains, domestic animals and clothing  However, for these modern times, we will include whatever type of fortune is needed for ourselves and others.

Material well being in life supports opportunities for compassion toward others as well as sustains conditions for developing a successful spiritual practice. Within the teachings of the Nine Way of Bön, there are rituals specifically performed in order to reinforce and increase well-being and prosperity. These rituals are called Yang Drup, or accomplishment of the Yang.  Yang means the force of prosperity and good fortune and includes wealth, harmonious and supportive relationships, merit, health, positive opportunities, and other desirable results

These rituals strengthen the force of personal good fortune and good luck by both requesting the assistance of a wealth deity and by calling back any of this energetic force that might have become separated from the individual.

Medicine Buddha on Zoom

Saturday, August 24th

8-9:30 am   Pacific Time

The Medicine Buddha is compassionate manifestation of Tönpa Shenrab, the great Enlightened One of Bön . This teaching benefits all who are ill or sick; it liberates them from suffering through Medicine Buddha. Through ceremony, meditation, and visualization, we are freed from obstacles in life and protected. By applying a method of healing and receiving the blessing of Tönpa Shenrab, the power and qualities of our energy are restored.

It was at the request of the kings of the island of Dawa Ruting that Tonpa Shenrab first gave the teachings of the Medicine Buddha. They were then transmitted through Chabu Trishe, one of Tonpa Shenrab’s eight sons and the source of all healing tradition of Tibetan Medicine lineage according to Bön. Gradually it was passed through masters in a continuous lineage down to the founder of the original Menri Monastery, Nyammed Sherab Gyaltsen, and all the subsequent holders of that lineage and has been preserved unbroken to the present day.
